When life gives you a mysterious writer

When_Life_Gives_You_Tangerines_poster A short note about Im Sang-choon (임상춘), the writer for the hit kdrama 폭싹 속았수다 (When Life Gives You Tangerines) starring IU and Park Bo-gum. Very little is actually known about Im, other than the fact that she - despite the very masculine name - is a woman (the name is a nom de plume), and that she is something of a recluse. In fact, there is no guarantee that - given her growing success - she won't adopt a new name in order to maintain her anonymity.

Her works include 동백꽃 필 무렵 (When the Camellia Blooms), 쌈 마이웨이 (Fight for My Way), 백희가 돌아왔다 (Becky's Back), 도도하라 (Be Arrogant). Both Camellia and Tangerines won for Best Screenplay at the Baeksang Arts Awards (56th and 61st Awards, respectively).

Im was (probably) born in 1985, and was an office worker who began writing seriously in her late 20's. Park Bo-gum apparently knows her well, but is reluctant to say much about her - given how much of a low profile she prefers to keep.

There is a surprisingly good wikipedia page about her in English.
